Night At Fotografiska

An international art center in Stockholm, Fotografiska, has held exhibitions by renowned photographers around the world since 2010. We visited the museum in May 2018 when there are exhibiting the “Secret Times” o by Cathleen Naundorf, “The Extraordinary World of Christian Tagliavi” by Christian Tagliavi and “Mother Daughter” by Linda McCartney and Mary McCartney.

The museum opened from 9 am till late at night. We went there on Thursday after dinner, explored the exhibitions and sipped few glasses of wine with a panorama view of Stockholm.

Exhibitions

Secret Times

by Cathleen Naudorf

Naundorf has worked with leading Haute Couture houses like Dior, Valentino, Gaultier, Armani, and Elie Saab. Originally from Germany and now based in Paris and London, Naundorf started out as a travel photographer. She traveled around the world experiencing different cultures including meeting with Dalai Lama and ethnic groups in Mongolia, Siberia, Gobi Desert and the Amazonas headwaters in Brazil.

Inspired by her friend who later become her mentor, Horst P. Horst, a fashion photographer, Naundorf turned her focus to fashion, particularly in French Haute Couture houses. The photos at the exhibition were taken in unique locations by using large format cameras with Polaroid and negative films. Naundorf has become one of the world’s most reputable fashion photographer.

The Extraordinary World of Christian Tagliavi

by Christian Tagliavi

This exhibition features an imaginary world that Tagliavi built from scratch. His works are a combination of photographs and craftsmanship from classic methods to 3-D printing. Every object in the photographs is designed and created by himself.

Mother Daughter

by Linda and Mary McCartney

Collections of photos from Linda and Mary McCartney, the late wife and daughter of Paul McCartney. The exhibiting photographs can be seen as instinctual and captured intimate moments of family and celebrities like Mick Jagger, Kate Moss, and Rihanna, etc.

Restaurant and Bar

Another thing that makes this art center so special is a spectacular view of Stockholm from the bar and restaurant. Here you’ll enjoy one of the best panorama view of Stockholm from the Harbor. We bought a package ticket with a glass of wine each person. We’d love to come back to try out the food next time!

As an art enthusiast, I really enjoyed the exhibitions especially Secret Times by Naudorf. Her photographs are a great combination of elegance and mysterious adventure. With extraordinary scenery and artworks, Fotografiska should be on your itinerary when you’re in Stockholm.
