Already planning for your next summer trip? If you’re going to Stockholm this summer, Sandhamn should be in your itinerary. A popular place to visit for both locals and tourists, Sandhamn is a historic village island among the nearly 30,000 islands in Stockholm archipelago. Within about two hours’ boat ride from Stockholm, you’ll reach the home of classic sailing hub, fresh seafood and beautiful beaches.
There are several beaches, shops and restaurants along the harbor. You’ll see traditional Swedish Falu red houses. The restaurants are pretty packed during the summer. You can bring some sandwiches, snacks, cold drinks and a cooler to save some time from waiting in line for the restaurant. We had lunch at Sandhamn Värdshus, a classic well-known restaurant next to the harbor. The food was fresh and delicious!
Apart from being lazy on several beaches, dipping yourself (or only your feet) in cold water and getting great seafood, wandering in the pine tree forest’s also good fun. Just be sure to spare some time to find a way back!
