Known as the lungs of Bangkok, Bang Kra Chao has become a chill hangout spot for both locals and tourists. Located in Samut Prakan province, Bang Kra Chao could be easily reached within less than half an hour from city center. I’ve been there for a few times with my friends and always have good times. Here are things you should know before getting there!
How to get there?
There are several ways to get there, either by boat or car. I highly recommend going there by boat as it’s more convenient and takes much less time to commute unless you live close to the Industrial Ring bridge (Bhumiphol bridge).
It’s very convenient to cross to Bang Krachao from Bangna or Khlongtoey piers. I personally prefer Khlongtoey pier as its close to where I live and I had better experience there. There were several long-tail boats with friendly sailors that I could hop on to cross to Pae Jeab pier really quickly . The bike rental shop’s right next to the pier. It costs only 100 baht for full-day bike rent including the round-trip boat ride and complimentary bottle of water. We got 20 baht discount per one person as we arrived there late afternoon. We had to return the bikes there by 7pm. However, the rental shop told us that the boat services would still be available later at night.
Site Seeing
The bike rental shop gave us a map to see the main attractions and recommend the route
- Wat Bang Nam Peung
- Bang Nam Peung Floating market
- Bangkok Tree House
- Sri Nakhon Kuen Khan Park and Botanical Garden
Tips
It could get pretty confusing cycling around small routes on the island by just relying on the given map. So it’s a good idea to bring a phone holder to use Google Maps to check if you’re on the right track. Plus, be prepared for the sun and the heat!
