Afternoon in Millesgården

If you’re an admirer of sculptures, Millesgården’s the place to visit in Stockholm. Located on the cliff of Herserud in Lidingö island overviewing lake Värtan, this artist home is less than half hour by train from downtown Stockholm. Built by Sculptor Carl Milles and his wife painter Olga Milles in 1908, Millesgården has become a reputable museum with antique collections, art galleries and vast sculpture garden.

Milesgarden art gallery exhibits various exhibitions throughout the year. I went there during July 2018 while there was a two-week exhibition of Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849), a Japanese artist known for his innovative woodblock art print. The exhibition presented a comprehensive work of Hokusai including the famous series of thirty-six views of Mount Fuji.
